Cyprus accounting โ€” common questions

Is an audit mandatory for all Cyprus companies?

Yes. Unlike many other jurisdictions, all Cyprus companies โ€” regardless of size or revenue โ€” must have their annual financial statements audited by a registered Cyprus auditor. There is no small company audit exemption in Cyprus.

What is the VAT registration threshold in Cyprus?

The VAT registration threshold in Cyprus is โ‚ฌ15,600 of taxable turnover in any 12-month period. Companies providing digital services to EU consumers may also need to register for VAT in Cyprus or use the EU OSS scheme.

When must annual accounts be filed?

Cyprus companies must file their annual return with the Registrar of Companies within 28 days of the Annual General Meeting. The AGM must be held within 18 months of incorporation and thereafter within 15 months of the previous AGM. Annual accounts and tax returns are due within 15 months of the financial year end.

Do I need to be in Cyprus to manage the accounting?

No. All accounting and compliance work can be handled remotely. We liaise with Cyprus authorities on your behalf and send documents for e-signing or notarised signature where required.
